For sure, the app user itself can change the vehicle type whenever they want to. In the Upper app, you can modify the vehicle type for all available routes at one time. Or else, you can select different vehicle types for the routes one by one. 

1. Upper for Driver app > Settings > Vehicle Type > Choose any one option. 

2. Open app > Go to My Routes > Edit Route > Vehicle Type > Change the option. 

Whichever vehicle type you select, Upper will consider the chosen vehicle while calculating distance. By default, it will be a car, but you can change the default option from the app anytime.
